Hannah

It is with the saddest of hearts that I write this memoriam for one of the gentlest Berners, Hannah. Hannah passed away this morning from cancer. I met Hannah and her loving owners Madelyn and Dennis when they contacted us to get a puppy (Diesel) from Abby's first litter. They wanted to have a companion for Hannah who had recently lost her best friend, another Berner, named Boomer.

Madelyn and I quickly became friends and I often got to visit her and her pets at the farm. Hannah became Diesel’s surrogate mother from the moment she met him, and would watch me like a hawk protecting her nest. She didn't dare chance that I might try to take away her new best friend, Diesel.  It was only after months of visits that Hannah was at ease with my presence, comfortable that I wasn’t going to carry off her best friend.

Hannah's life was filled with fun and good times. Madelyn and Dennis are among the most perfect pet owners I have ever met in my life. Their pets come before anything else and nothing is ignored, whether it is a medical condition or just quality play time. Madelyn and Dennis tried desperately with the veterinarians to give Hannah more time, but it wasn't meant to be. My heart goes out to my friends Madelyn and Dennis in these saddest of times.

Hannah, you are with Boomer now, under the rainbow bridge. Rest in peace, you’re always in my heart.  Love, Granny.
