Choosing a Breeder |
||||
| Buying a puppy from a breeder who knows and cares about the breed is the perfect way to buy your new puppy. A good breeder will always be there for you not only before you buy but well after. I am available to help in whatever way I can be of assistance to my new family members 24/7. Don't ever worry that your question might not seem important, if it concerns the well being of your Berner, it is important! Please, please, please, before you make your decision, go see where your puppy is coming from. If you see multiple breeds of dogs in crates with puppies, you are in a puppy mill; don't walk, run away from there! Make sure you get to see the mother of the puppy and the father, if possible. Check their temperament, and see how their overall health condition looks. Check with the vet that takes care of them on a regular basis. Buying a puppy from a pet shop or puppy mill will only lead to heartache in the future. Vet bills are high enough without the added troubles of poor health from genetic flaws due to inferior breeding. A truly reputable breeder will never breed any dog that he or she knows has a bad temperament or any health problems. A reputable breeder has a true love for the breed, and because it is from the heart and not the pocket, will only breed for the betterment of the breed. |
