Brandon
We lost a very dear member of our family in April, 2005. Our beloved Brandon, had to be put down. Brandon was Sue's first Berner, and he was almost ten years old when he passed. Although he was conceived in Switzerland, he was actually born in the US. Brandon's breeder moved to the US while his female was carrying the litter.
Brandon was many things, but most of all, he was a ham for cameras. Brandon would let you dress him up with hats, glasses, decorations for the holiday, he was always the willing, big guy. After he turned seven, I lovingly started calling him The Fossil, and it soon stuck. He eventually would even answer to that name.
Brandon was also a true male Berner, and he could be as stubborn as a mule. If he didn't want to move, forget it... without a crane you wouldn't get him to budge. TV remote controls were his favorite "toys" to destroy. When he was about two, I can't tell you how many times I would get a call from Sue to say, "Could you go and get me another remote today?" If I had to guess I would say he destroyed dozens of them in his lifetime, and that is no exaggeration. Once he got a hold of one, it took just one bite to finish it off. Employees at Radio Shack suggested I buy them by the case, it would be cheaper!
Brandon loved life here and also his "harem" with his four females. There was Taylor, who was Abby's mother, Pina our 6 year old Swiss female, Abby of course and then Daika who is also a puppy from Taylor. Brandon was loved by so many people, our friends who came to visit, even people he met for the first time. Whenever he went to a show, everyone loved the big guy.
Brandon was also loyal. His total commitment and love for Sue was evident all the time. If Sue went away for a few days, he would stay by the door until the day she came home. He knew by the sound of the car she was home and then he would moan until he finally saw her come in. The love in a Berner's eyes is like no other breed.
So my dear Grandson until we all meet again I know you are resting on that big couch under the rainbow bridge. My love to you always, Grandma.
